EBSA Guides for Parents

These guides are written for families trying to understand EBSA, masking, school distress, school refusal and school avoidance. They are free to read and do not require an account.

They are educational. They do not diagnose a child and they do not replace medical, psychological, educational or legal advice.

The book and the companion

Unmasking EBSA by Jessica Buckle MABP and Nicola Middlehurst FMBPsS gives the understanding. The companion platform helps readers record it, notice patterns and build evidence over time.

What is an EBSA Support Plan?

An EBSA Support Plan is a written, shared plan describing what a child finds difficult, what is being tried, who is doing what and how the impact will be reviewed. It is agreed between the family, the child and school, and it is not a legal document.

EBSA-Simplified Support is the practical tool for recording patterns, attendance, emotional impact and next steps.
